DESIGN PROCESS
It’s all about the process! Mine has been developed and honed over time like a river, and continues to adapt as I do, to best unveil the potential of the site while understanding the systems and elements at play.
The typical flow is:
Meet and discuss objectives, challenges and opportunities for the project
I will write up a proposal for review and feedback which includes a summary of the objectives, and the proposed timeline, deliverables and cost for the design phase.
Half of the design fee is due upon acceptance and seals the agreement
I will collect site data and perform a Site Survey, Inventory and Analysis to create an accurate Base Plan in AutoCAD
Conceptual Development will hone in on a ‘best first draft’ rendered in free-hand to help to visualize the possibilities, along with a digital Materials and Mood Board
We will gather to review the Preliminary Concept Plan, consider the proposed elements and treatments along with alternatives. We will discuss priorities and preferences. Disagreements and epiphanies may occur-this is the unique and ‘juicy’ part of the process, where the magic happens ; ).
Feedback from the Preliminary Concept meeting and some time to percolate will be interpreted into the Landscape Masterplan(s), which will be presented to finalize the process.
Discussion of implementation, phases and general costs can happen throughout, though real planning must come after the plan! Estimating and Project planning, if desired, starts the Project Management phase.
